  • SEO Forum - Choose a Domain Name - SEO Tips

One of the main factors when search engines like google choose the place where a website will be placed is keywords inside the domain. So once you have researched keyword phrases for levels of competition and found a few phrases in which you feel you may obtain good serp's for you must then attempt to obtain the domain for that key phrase. Simple you may be thinking however in truth it probably will not be available because someone has considered it and got it. One of the most annoying thing is they will probably never ever make use of it to create a website. Instead they'll just park the domain and load it with Pay per click marketing ads and possibly make a bit of easy money.

When you go to choose a domain name and it is unavailable then you could always look at one of the other top level internet domain names e.g. .net - .info - .co.uk etc. Nowadays there always appears to be a brand new top level domain being released so maybe you could even pre-order it. Regrettably the more popular the search term leads to the likelihood that most the top level domain names happen to be taken so reducing your goals my be worth considering. Yes this may ultimately bring about less website traffic however it can also mean that the traffic you do acquire will be more targeted and much more likely to make a sale.

Another way around this could be to try and put a dash (-) in between words within the domain and find out if this is available. People today tend not to like typing these to their url bar because they are fiddly however, if you receive high positions on search engines like google then this would really not matter. Besides if they like your website and want to come back they could always bookmark your website instead. Another way would be to mix the keywords or even better include an additional word related to the phrase. An example could be if you were trying to promote iPhones and you simply wanted the domain name iphonesforsale.com instead you could try something such as monthlyiphonesforsale.com you will then have 2 targeted keyword phrases in the domain, monthly iPhones and iPhones for sale.

    Top Level Domain Naming

Say for instance that you were selling mobile phone devices in the united kingdom you might want to create a top level domain name such as .co.uk rather than a .com. Although this may result in your target audience becoming localized rather than globalised. Yes it's going to lead to less website traffic yet the traffic is targeted and also the bounce rate on your site would be substantially reduced. Besides it could stand a better chance of attaining higher positions in Google.co.uk which is where the traffic will come as that would be the typical Search engine for that territory instead of Google.com. Try obtaining a domain name for yourself. You'll find more Search engine optimization articles much like this at SEO Forum Tips.

  • SEO Forum - Getting Spam Comments - SEO Tips

Over the past few weeks I have realized that my website is getting a great deal of spam. Not just a few spam comments here and there but lots of the damn stuff. In fact according to Google Analytics the site seems to acquire more spam remarks than real visitors. I have not got around to activating my Askimet configurations yet to prevent the spam responses. Now having looked around a handful of black hat discussion boards I realized that this method is fairly popular. I thought I would do a little test!

And so out comes my copy of Scrapebox and I harvested a handful of Wordpress blogs. Scrapebox incidentally can be great for finding blogs related to your niche if used in a white hat manner, which is to be covered once i begin to put up some tools for SEO Reviews. Anyway I figured I'd try a little test just to find out if spamming works or not. To tell the truth anyone with blog site with any real visitors would always reject them anyway. However many people don't know how to use Wordpress blogs effectively too, me included.

After harvesting a few (very few) I let Scrapebox rip and off it went auto commenting on blogs (sorry by the way if you were one of these). Within a hour I got an email from one of the people that I had spammed and he informed me that 90% of the people who left comments gave an incorrect email address. That's because they don't want you to email them back and complain! I did check to see how many of these links did in fact get okayed and it was very few indeed.

The truth is if you do have a spam remark approved then it is likely to be by a website that generates little or no interest and would certainly have very little or no page ranking. If the link did get approval then the it's likely that the page has or is going to be spammed to death anyway. You would have to make thousands and thousands of these to make any real difference in search engine positions and also risk Google putting your site in the dreaded 'Sandbox'. So having used your time harvesting URL's to find possible spamming victims, wasting additional time whist the spamming application does it's work and then checking to see if any of the comment stuck would it have been really worth the time in the first place.
There may be a few individuals who come on here and comment to say that this works if it is implemented correctly but for the time spent would not it be better to find a few webpage's with high page ranking and write a proper comment related to their posts.

At the end of the day regardless how many backlinks you have if the ones you do have are from high-quality - high page ranking and related websites as these are worth much more and so are more likely to attract referrals too.
